Sightseeing In Northwest Montana


          Located on the western side of the Continental Divide, Northwest Montana is an extensive mountainous area home to two of the most popular tourist destinations in the Pacific region that includes the Glacier National Park and the Flathead Lake. Northwest Montana is a geographically diverse region with wonderful mountains covered with lush and varied forest with towering coniferous trees, pristine rivers, clear streams, untamed wildlife and beautiful lakes.

          Northwest Montana offers multiple tourist attractions that include the Bitterroot Valley, the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, and Clark Fork River area, Flathead Valley, Kootenai Valley, the city of Missoula and the Seeley Swan Valley.

          An interesting destination in Northwest Montana is the Thompson Dam, a wonderful place to explore with many scenic overlooks. The dam is located in Thompson Falls on the Clark Fork River and is a seven-unit hydroelectric plant. Located 18 miles around Thompson Dam are Eddy Peak and Driveway Peak, two of the most spectacular peaks in the Northwest Montana region that are ideal for hiking. One can choose to fish, boat, swim or just relax and enjoy the view of the lake and the majestic mountains at the Noxon Rapids Reservoir. Clark Fork River and the Flathead Lake are best suited for activities like sailing, fishing, kayaking, boating and water skiing.

          Glacier National park is a stunning beautiful region filled with serrated ridges, hanging valleys, around 50 glaciers, more than 200 lakes, magnificent waterfalls and thick forests. Forests in this region are home for animals like deer, wildlife but elk, moose, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, wolves, grizzly bears and black bears.

          Northwest Montana is an outstanding tourist destination offering a number of recreational opportunities and adventure sports activities throughout the area including horse packing, trout fishing, big game hunting, Ilama rides, trail rides, wagon trains, bicycling, hiking, backpacking, whitewater rafting, downhill skiing and cross-country skiing.
